Baked Tortellini

Cast-Iron Baked Tortellini

Total: 40 mins

Serves: 4 to 6 




Ingredients:


  • 20 oz cheese tortellini (substitute if needed)
  • 1/2 lb. ground beef (sub if needed)
  • 2 cups homemade pasta sauce (see recipe "Sunday Sauce")
  • 1 cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
  • fresh parsley
  • salt and pepper

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven 375 degrees F
  2. Cook tortellini according to package directions. Drain
  3. Cook ground meat til browned. Drain
  4. Add a layer of sauce to bottom of cast-iron skillet
  5. Add pasta to skillet in one single layer
  6. Top with more sauce
  7. Dollop ricotta cheese throughout the mixture
  8. Top with meat and remaining sauce
  9. Stir gently to combine
  10. Top with mozzarella cheese, Parmesan and parsley
  11. Bake until the sauce is bubbly and cheese is melted and browned, 30-40 mins
